With the wind energy sector quickly growing nationwide, a shortage of qualified technicians is the reason 60% of the wind turbines in the United States are behind on scheduled maintenance, a recent survey said.

Lack of Maintenance Leads to Costly Repairs
The main component causing downtime for turbines is the gearbox. If it fails, it can cost 15-20% of the price of the turbine for replacement. Also, failure to monitor and replace oil as needed can lead to wear on bearing and grears, causing greater financial loses than simply replacing the part.
